Baltimore, MD

Here are photos from the event!  Thank you all!

From organizer Ryan Sattler:  Twenty gathered at the Basilica on a very rainy Sunday morning. The news coverage was significant with three TV stations and a reporter for the Baltimore Sun. We held a meaningful prayer service. We ended the rally with the promise that we will gather again, and again, and again until open and honest dialogue takes place and leads to real change.

Call To Action Maryland is organizing a peaceful protest and prayer vigil on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 10am at the Baltimore Basilica at 320 Cathedral Street in Baltimore.  We hope you can join us as we passionately display our demands of our Church leaders.  Please pray about your personal call to action and prepare a sign that states your message for Archbishop Lori and his fellow bishops.  Call Ryan Sattler at 443.275.1180 for more information.

Catholics Putting Pressure On Church Leaders To Prevent Sex Abuse

Boston, MA

Organized by Call To Action

Date and Details TBD, Please check back

Cleveland, OH

POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER AND RESCHEDULED for
OCTOBER 6, 3:45PM ET

“Time’s Up” gathering in Cleveland, Ohio.  Please spread the word to your networks.

When:  Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 3:45pm ET
Where:  Sidewalk in front of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 1007 Superior Avenue E, Cleveland, Ohio 44114-2582
What:  Prayer vigil and peaceful demonstration.  Bring your signs (please be truthful and respectful).
Why:  Catholics are gathering across the United States on September 8 & 9, 2018 to protest the widespread clergy sex abuse and cover up by clerics in the Catholic Church and to demand truth.  The Pennsylvania Grand Jury report, the resignation of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the actions to conceal clergy sex abuse here in Cleveland by Auxiliary Bishop A. James Quinn, and other disheartening scandals are part of what has been a widespread effort to protect prelates, abusive priests, and the institution over victims, both children and vulnerable adults.  We invite all Catholics to join your voice with thousands of other Catholics as we demand truth and transparency from Catholic bishops.
More:  We sent a letter to Bishop Nelson Perez and asking him to speak with us as we gather on Sunday.  We seek honest and respectful dialogue about the need for the diocese to be transparent in all matters of clergy sex abuse and cover up. We will ask Bishop Perez to help us understand what he has done and is doing to make sure those who covered up clergy sex abuse are held accountable.

Call to Action/Philadelphia, Dignity/Philadelphia, and Southeastern Pennsylvania Women’s Ordination Conference will be hosting a vigil and organizing meeting for Catholic clergy accountability at Sister Cities Park in Philadelphia from 2:45 pm – 4:30 pm. Once gathered together, we will pray publicly for an end to the secrets and lies that hid extensive child sexual abuse in our Church for so long.  At the conclusion of the vigil, we will process to a brief organizing meeting meant to empower the Philadelphia laity to create change in our Church through dialogue and action. All are welcome to this event:  parishioners struggling to figure out how to respond, “lapsed” and “former” Catholics, and anyone who wishes to stand in solidarity with survivors and victims of sexual abuse.

WHAT: As part of a nationwide series of vigils, Call Tu.Action Western Washington invites fellow Catholics to gather on the sidewalk in front of St St. James Cathedral Saturday, Sept 8, for a rally. This rally is part of an ongoing response to the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report on sexual abuse committed by Catholic clergy and the subsequent cover up by Catholic cillm;h officials. Specific demands for this national series of vigils regard: (1) Survivor Justice and Civil Recourse, (2) Church Transparency and Accountability (3) Dismantling Patriarchy in All Its Forms ( 4) Dismantling Clericalism in All Its Forms.
WHERE: St. James Cathedral; 9th Ave & :Marion St, Seattle, WA 98104, in coordination with cities across the country.
WHEN: Saturday, September 8, 12:00 noon-to 2:00 p.m. This series is one of many ongoing grassroots efforts by lay Catholics to organize their protests, vigils, demonstrations and witness.
WHO: Catholics and allies will gather to pray for survivors of clerical abuse and the platform of demands.
WHY: On August 14, a Grand Jury in Pennsylvania released a report detailing the abuse suffered by over 1,000 child victims, and names over 300 Catholic priests as credibly accused. In addition to the individual crimes, the report shed light on the􀁼 long effort of Catholic Church officials to shield the perpetrators from prosecution, and generally hide details of the crimes from the public.
